Oak Lane
On first inspection this new development garden was bisected almost in two by a neighbour’s garage creating two distinct spaces. This situation lent itself for me to be able design two very different areas.
In the first part of the garden I created a more traditional space. The angular corners have been softened by creating a half-moon lawn with planting which in time will conceal the corners. The uninspiring fence has been covered with Lattice Trellis Panels with the curve of the trellis raised above the top of the fence thus giving a little more privacy from neighbouring houses. Climbing plants will in time cover the trellis.
The existing Terrace has been widened and a Gazebo located in the corner, finally a Lattice Trellis Panel has been installed to hide the bins.
In the second part of the garden I have created a ‘Beach Garden’ with a pond and waterfall built of Purbeck Stone to match the stone of the house. I have used Timberstone Sleepers laid to imitate groins on a beach.
The entire area has been covered in gravel with a mixture of cobbles and boulders. Through the gravel grasses, bamboo and palms have been planted to give this part of the garden a lush tropical feel.
Finally to conceal the neighbour’s garage wall a three bay single pergola has been erected along the front. Four bespoke tensioned Stainless Steel cables run between the pergola posts to allow climbing plants to scramble over.
