A Small Country Garden

Inglenook Cottage is a classic thatched rural cottage set in a shallow Wiltshire chalk valley. When I arrived, this long narrow garden was completely overgrown with a central path running down the middle.

With this design I wanted to create movement and an air of mystery so I moved the pergola to the left and created a curving path around a half moon border. Once the shrub planting has grown a little, the path will disappear luring you down the garden to see what is around the corner.

The existing Weeping Birch and surrounding trees already give the garden a feeling of maturity and the lush planting beneath will create a rural oasis.

The Terrace and Path has been laid with Indian Sandstone in which the occasional plant fossil can be found and further down the garden a stone circle has been positioned to give a secluded seating area hidden from the cottage.

The service we received was extemporary... Seeing the design on paper was only the start of it - once the work and planting had been completed the results were amazing.
