Highfield House Front Garden

To complement the Façade of this grand Georgian house I designed a Parterre for the front garden. The space has been divided into four equal size borders with a central path giving access from the gate to the front door.

In the centre of each border is a bespoke cast iron obelisk each with Rosa ‘Compassion’ growing against. The central borders themselves are planted simply with Hidcote Lavender. Enclosing the borders are low box hedges with an inner gravel path and finally another line of box on the outside.

To complete the picture four Versailles Planters have been positioned along the front of the building, each containing a clipped Box Ball.

The original plan was to enclose the garden with a Yew hedge, however once the existing railings were restored and with the garden looking so grand we decided to leave it as it was.

[Mike] created a formal garden of parterres at the front and side of the house that exactly captures the 18th century spirit of the Georgian facade and is delight to the eye.
