About Mike
After a full and successful career in the British Army, Mike studied Garden Design at the prestigious English Gardening School based at The Chelsea Physic Garden London. During his time there, he was fortuitous enough to be tutored by such well-known and experienced designers and plants-persons as Rosemary Alexander, Anthony du gard Pasley and the eminent Roy Lancaster.
After graduating from the English Gardening School, he set up his own Garden Design Practice, The Garden Path, with the main objective of offering a friendly but Professional Garden Design & Build Service that would be flexible enough to suit all budgets and requirements.
Mike now has clients based throughout the U.K. with properties ranging from small town houses to large country estates. He also provides freelance garden design to Southern and West Country based Landscape Contractors.
He has been the Specialist Horticultural Researcher on three series of the BBC1 TV garden makeover program Garden Invaders working closely with TV designers Charlie Dimmock, Joe Swift and Andy Sturgeon.
In 2005 Mike and his team mate Ian Penny from 'Classic Building' entered the Channel 4 design and build competition The Great Garden Challenge. Mike and Ian built three gardens in the competition making it through to the semi-finals.
Mike has run introductory Garden Design courses at Marlborough College Summer School for three consecutive years and regularly lectures on Garden Design at Ivy House Design School Bath
