With the demand for more housing in the UK increasing and the size of gardens subsequently reducing, the courtyard style garden is becoming evermore popular.
With the recent changes in our climate and the milder weather, people are beginning to use their outdoor spaces more and more. The courtyard garden is in effect an extension of the house, a unique outdoor room with its own sheltered micro-climate, ideal for the more exotic plants.This one day course will take you through the basic principles of how to design a courtyard garden, step by step, from start to finish including: choosing a theme; designing the layout; identifying compatible plants; selecting construction materials and; how to light and furnish your garden with the finishing touches.
1 Day of Brilliant Planting Ideas

This one day course is designed to provide you with a plethora of great planting ideas and the right “tool kit” to put them in place. It is aimed at anyone who wants to create a new border in their garden or completely re-design an existing one.
Using basic design principles, this course will cover step by step, the positioning of a border, taking into account its aspect, soil conditions, size and shape. The emphasis will be on seasonal planting and how to devise a planting scheme with the right balance of form and structure and rewarding colour combinations.
Our classes are small and friendly and are designed to provide the maximum amount of knowledge and enjoyment within a limited period of time.
