Garden Design Made Easy

Learn the secrets of garden design with this practical five day introductory course aimed at those looking for inspiration for their own garden.

The course will provide you with an understanding of the key principles of garden design including aesthetic considerations, plants, planting plans and hard landscaping materials.

It will provide you with a step by step guide through the garden design process revealing tried and tested techniques used by professional Garden Designers together with practical solutions to common problems.

During the course, students will use an area in the college for a practical lesson on how to measure a garden accurately and how to transfer this information onto paper. Using this garden as reference, each student will produce their own garden design and will have the opportunity to put the techniques learned and their own creative flair into practice.

Alternatively students are invited to bring along plans and photos of their own garden to work on under the guidance and supervision of Mike.

Our classes are small and friendly and are designed to provide the maximum amount of knowledge and enjoyment within a limited period of time. The days content is a mix of instruction, case studies and practical drawing with an enjoyable plant identification afternoon in the gardens of Marlborough College.
